United States history is unique in that it is much shorter than the histories of other major world powers, yet it would be difficult to name a country that has had more influence per year of its existence. The hand of God is evident in a unique way in the events of its formation and development. This class is designed to lead the students to a deeper appreciation of what America is as a country by tracing the events of its founding and development. In the last quarter of the class the students will study the recent history of America analyzing the ideas and political agendas that have controlled both the domestic and foreign policies of the United States. The students will become familiar with all the major dates, people and ideas of this great country’s history. But beyond the mere facts, the students will be challenged to process the information within a Christian worldview and to find and defend Biblical solutions to the problems of America’s past and the problems of today.
